Sit—Still is a full-service landscape architecture practice based in Los Angeles. We work across public, commercial, and residential landscapes, bringing a lean and collaborative approach to projects throughout California.
We design landscapes to evolve with the world around them. We understand our role as one chapter in the long life of a place, and embrace change as a defining characteristic of our medium.
Our Approach
Rather than designing toward a single fixed outcome, we consider the reality of now alongside the uncertainty of tomorrow, designing spaces that are ready and able to accept change.
We take a position on how design should relate to time, to authorship, and to the people who live with designed spaces. We work from a point of humility, recognizing that the landscape architect is only one part of a much longer process.
The people who inhabit, care for, and change a place are active participants in its evolution. Our role is to create the conditions for that participation—to design places in which others can invent.
How We Work
We love to riff and do our best work in dialogue with others.
We collaborate with architects, planners, strategists, institutions, developers, homeowners, and creative rule-benders who are genuinely excited about design and optimistic about the future.
The goal is not to create a new aesthetic, but to shift how landscape architecture understands time, change, and the distribution of creative agency within designed spaces.
Our Name
Sit—Still alludes to both patience and readiness.
While the world around us swirls, our work remains responsive to the messy course of evolution—grounded in experience, open to uncertainty, and ready for what comes next.
